our WARM UP! campaign
We support the cold bus of the Berlin City Mission.
Every night, volunteers are out and about in Berlin providing people living on the streets with the basic necessities...
The Berlin City Mission (Berliner Stadtmission) operates up to three „Cold Buses“ every night from November 1st to March 30th. Around 60 volunteers drive the Cold Buses, and many others contribute to the emergency overnight shelters in the city. The Cold Buses transport people to safe emergency shelters if they wish to go and are unable to make the journey on their own. Volunteers provide people on the streets with hot drinks, warm soup, clothes, sleeping pads, and sleeping bags, and engage in conversation with them. When tem- peratures drop below freezing, they ensure that no one is left to suffer in the icy cold and, at worst, risk death from frostbite.
You can call the Berlin City Mission Cold Bus at 030 690 333 690 if you come across people in need. The call center will forward the calls to the buses. Please make sure beforehand that the person(s) actually want this help.

The team at Hackesche Höfe Cinemas wants to actively raise awareness of the Cold Bus’s work and support it. Through our „WARM UP“ campaign, you can now donate a sleeping bag or sleeping pad to the Berlin City Mission. We have specifically chosen unused mats and sleeping bags to give the homeless the respect they are often denied. You can purchase them directly at our cinema foyer during your visit or on our website: hoefekino.de.
We will personally deliver every donation to the City Mission. Our managing director also drives with the Cold Bus once a week.
Download the Berlin Cold Aid app on your smartphones. This way, you can actively help the homeless by directing them to the nearest Cold Aid facility.
Imagine that, after your visit to the cinema, you couldn’t return to your warm bed but had to sleep under the next bridge...
We, the hackesche höfe kino team, the Cold Bus team, and the people on the streets, thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
